Empowering Learners to Think Critically, Act Responsibly, and Lead with Purpose

The Middle Years Programme (MYP) at ELA Green School is a dynamic and engaging learning journey designed for students aged 11 to 16 (Grades 6–10). It is a vibrant and collaborative environment where curious minds, passionate educators, and meaningful learning experiences come together to prepare students for the opportunities and challenges of an ever-evolving world.

As part of the International Baccalaureate Continuum, the MYP provides a rigorous and internationally recognised framework that encourages students to make meaningful connections between their studies and the real world. Through inquiry, critical thinking, collaboration, and reflection, learners develop the knowledge, skills, and attributes necessary to become confident, responsible, and globally minded individuals.

At ELA Green School, learning extends beyond subject boundaries. Students are encouraged to explore issues and ideas of local, national, and global significance while developing a deeper understanding of themselves, their communities, and the wider world. Our interdisciplinary and concept-driven approach nurtures creativity, innovation, problem-solving, and independent thinking—essential skills for success in the 21st century.

The MYP serves as a strong foundation for future academic success, preparing students for the challenges of the IB Diploma Programme while fostering intellectual curiosity, resilience, and a lifelong love for learning.

Service as Action

Learning Through Meaningful Engagement

Service as Action is a cornerstone of the Middle Years Programme at ELA Green School. It empowers students to apply their learning in authentic contexts and make meaningful contributions to their communities and the environment.

Throughout all five years of the programme, students engage in purposeful experiences that encourage empathy, leadership, social responsibility, and sustainable action. By identifying real-world challenges and taking informed action, learners develop a deeper understanding of their role as active and responsible global citizens.

These experiences enable students to connect classroom learning with community impact, fostering values of compassion, collaboration, and environmental stewardship that are central to the ELA Green philosophy.

The Personal Project

Passion, Purpose, and Independent Achievement

The culmination of the MYP journey is the Personal Project, a significant student-led undertaking completed in the final year of the programme.

Driven by individual interests, passions, and aspirations, students independently investigate, design, create, and reflect upon a project that demonstrates their learning and personal growth. The Personal Project encourages learners to apply research, communication, self-management, and critical-thinking skills while pursuing an area of genuine interest.

Many projects incorporate elements of Service as Action, allowing students to create solutions, raise awareness, or make a positive contribution to society and the environment.

The Personal Project represents more than an academic requirement—it is a celebration of student voice, agency, creativity, and the confidence to transform ideas into meaningful action.

Developing Future-Ready Learners

Through the Middle Years Programme, ELA Green School nurtures learners who are:

Inquisitive and intellectually curious

Critical and reflective thinkers

Effective communicators and collaborators

Innovative problem-solvers

Environmentally conscious and socially responsible

Confident leaders and compassionate global citizens

Our MYP learners graduate with the skills, mindset, and values needed not only to succeed in the Diploma Programme but also to make a meaningful difference in an interconnected world.

A Balanced Learning Experience

At ELA Green School, we believe that true education nurtures the whole child.

To ensure every learner experiences a well-rounded journey of growth and self-discovery, students are required to select at least one activity from each of the three pillars — Mind, Body, and Soul.

This unique approach enables students to develop intellectual curiosity, physical resilience, and creative confidence while discovering their individual passions and talents.

The result is a generation of balanced, confident, and future-ready learners equipped not only for academic success, but for life.
